a metaphorical artwork with four distinct layers, each representing a different aspect of love. these layers illustrate how, within each person, love is composed of various dimensions: the skin, the bones, the flesh, and the mind.
the skin represents the initial impression or surface of an artwork, while the mind symbolizes the deeper essence, embodying the nft's very core.
each layer is integral to this artwork: the skin (pixels) → the bones (file) → the flesh (contract) → the mind (bytes)
the skin
it's the first thing you notice in an artwork. it's the first thing you see on a person too. it's all surface, beautiful and captivating. in this handcrafted 3d sculpture of a heart, the surface is made of skin. you can almost see and feel it. it's translucent, resembling actual skin, and its surface ripples like the drapes of a bed.
the flesh
it's what you don't see, hidden beneath the skin. beneath the surface lies the first token of love. nahiko chose to make this a symbol of affection by offering an additional nft to anyone who could see beyond the skin, revealing two hidden qr codes.
the first qr code is concealed within the heart's visual using steganography, hidden in the pixels. the second was revealed at the nft paris 2020 event with uv-printed qr codes.
the bones
deeper than the skin lies the smart contract's logic. nahiko decided to symbolize the bones of love with a hand-crafted smart contract. this contract includes a custom function that allows anyone to declare their love on the blockchain.
the mind
how do you represent love, embedded so deeply in someone's mind that they aren't even aware of it? nahiko chose to depict this aspect using the smart contract's mind. by viewing the smart contract as an image, he visualized the smart contract's mind and chose to embed love within it.
using his keyboard as a brush and bytes as paint, nahiko painted a heart inside the nft's mind.
