nysmnyd (now you see me, now you don't) is an impossible sculpture built on a caveat in the 3d file format. a magic trick with a question for the viewer: who wants to pay taxes?

g4spard invited me to the new french touch exhibition on superrare. the theme was controversy, wit, and decentralization. i picked a highly controversial topic at the time: the tax evasion practices of many gafam companies, meta among them.

the object is not a simple 3d model. it uses a long-forgotten feature of 3d file formats that lets parts of an object be hidden from certain angles. the result is a 3d sculpture of the meta logo that disappears when you look at it from a different angle.

the question "who wants to pay taxes?" reads as rhetorical, meaning meta. it may in fact be addressed to the audience.

nysmnyd is a metaverse-native sculpture: it was designed to exist in a post-vr world where 3d is part of daily life.
